SCEA offers a number of unique development opportunities in addition to game development. Representatives from each of the following programs will be in attendance at the event. More information about these programs can be found at the SCEA Third Party Relations website.
Tools & Middleware
There are many opportunities within the PlayStation® family of portables and consoles for tools and middleware companies to provide solutions for game developers. SCE has created a global Tools and Middleware program for those companies to approach licensed Sony developers and publishers and discuss how their solutions can help bring their titles to market. If you are a tools and middleware provider that enables game developers to bring cutting-edge games to market, we encourage you to apply for the SCE Tools and Middleware program.
Developer Incubation
If you are a developer and have always wanted to develop on the PlayStation platform, you may want to check out our Incubation Programs. The Incubation Program (PS3™ for North America and PSP® for Latin America) allows the incubating developer to work on actual PlayStation development hardware with the PlayStation SDK, and have access to Developer Support resources. The PSP program for Latin America additionally includes training material dedicated to the exploration of console development on the PSP hardware.
PlayStation®-edu
If you work with an academic institution and are interested in utilizing PlayStation development tools and hardware for educational purposes, this program is the answer for you. PlayStation-edu will allow educational institutions to purchase development kits for PSP, PS2, or both. With development kits in the classroom, students are able to learn about the computer architectures behind game consoles. This program is geared towards engineers and computer programmers.
PlayStation®Home
PlayStation®Home is a 3D social gaming community that allows PlayStation®3 users to meet, chat, plan, and launch into games together. Content in Home can further drive PlayStation title sales and create additional revenue streams via micro-transactions. Home has evolved a great deal, and will continue to do so, with the addition of new spaces, features, and functions to create a living, growing platform for the PlayStation community.
"minis"
"minis" is a fantastic new category of PSP titles. These are small, snackable titles that are geared towards a more casual, focused gaming experience that doesn't require a huge development budget to create. Now that "minis" have been enabled on the PlayStation 3, adding millions of potentials consumers along with it, there is no better time than the present to bring your content onto the PlayStation platform!
